Tuesday 10/9 Morning Discussion: A Slight Warmup

We’re starting cold, but then we’ll warm up a bit. Welcome to your Tuesday morning forecast for October 9, 2012!

TODAY: A FROST ADVISORY is in effect for everybody in our coverage area except Franklin, Union and Fayette counties in Eastern Indiana through 9 AM this morning. We do warm things up quite nicely from the morning lows, with highs close to 60 under partly cloudy skies. If you’re headed down to the Reds game tonight, take the sweater but I think you can leave the rain gear home.

TONIGHT AND WEDNESDAY: Wednesday morning, the frost threat is much less with lows around 41. Along with that, another quick system will push through on Wednesday morning. Guidance has trended drier with this one, so the rain chance looks low…almost too low to mention, but I’ll leave it there for the slim chance. Highs on Wednesday should be around 62. IF the Reds have to play tomorrow, then they’ll be playing under dry skies, and again you’ll want to take the sweater.

THURSDAY: At this point, Thursday still looks dry, with highs around 65 under partly cloudy skies again. Now, it looks like Wednesday night will be back to about 36.

FRIDAY-SUNDAY: I’m still going with a warmup through this period. HOWEVER Friday and Saturday will stay dry with highs around 69 on Friday and 72 on Saturday  ahead of the front. I need to leave that rain chance on Sunday, because I still think that the next front will have something to it. At this point, it looks like it might be quite a soaker as that cold front swings through, with showers and thunderstorms. Stay tuned on this one…it could affect the Bengals game Sunday. Low temperatures will be in the 50’s. I think NWS Wilmington is too high for lows on Saturday night, so I’ll go 56.

MONDAY: Back to dry conditions and highs around 68. Fall is definitely here.

TRAFFIC NOTE: If you work or live downtown, understand that traffic will be a major mess from 3:15-5:30 PM this afternoon and early evening due to the aforementioned Reds game. Follow the social media sites for updates, especially twitter.
