It’s been seasonable for the last couple days…but that all comes to a CRASHING halt tomorrow! Here’s your Wednesday morning forecast on this December 19, 2012!
TODAY: We will have one more dry day. Highs will end up around 50.
TONIGHT-FRIDAY: For the purposes of clarity, I’m breaking this into paragraphs. For tonight, expect showers to develop. Tonight’s lows will be in the middle 40’s.
Thursday is the nasty day. Rain will continue through most of the day, as a cold front to our west pushes east. Temperatures will start tumbling on Thursday afternoon as the front comes through, and then Thursday night we bottom out in the middle 20’s with some snow showers around especially north and west.
I should also note that the models continue to indicate that this front will bring strong wind to the area as well, with gusts as high as 50 mph possible from Thursday afternoon all the way into Friday. That would bring the potential for some scattered wind damage (nothing too big, but some tree limbs and maybe some power outages in a few spots), so today is the day to make sure your holiday decorations are completely secure.
Friday’s highs AT BEST look to end up in the LOWER 30’s (I’m playing conservative and going with 33), and we could still have some snow showers around, again particularly north and west of the city. Early indications suggest there might be some minor snow accumulation, up to 2″ north of town and tapering the further south you go. By the time you reach the southern counties, I wouldn’t be surprised to see accumulations less than half an inch. That’s just a first guess, and is NOT my official forecast. I will know more about potential snowfall as we get into Thursday.
By Friday night, I wouldn’t be surprised to have lows all the way into the upper TEENS into the Cincinnati metro. A lot of that will be pending what happens with the snows to our north. What a way to kick off true winter!
NEXT WEEKEND INTO CHRISTMAS: It does look as if conditions dry out again, and it’ll be cold with highs in the middle to upper 30’s. Yikes. Lows will be in the lower to middle 20’s (again, maybe teens in some spots).
