Saturday 12/22 Forecast: Uh-Oh…

TODAY: The previous storm is finally scooting off to the east, and we will have a dry day. It will, however, still be cold. Highs will only be around 34 thanks to the snow cover north of town. Expect lows tonight near 24.

SUNDAY/MONDAY: This period suddenly got MUCH more interesting. As we go into Sunday, we’ll be dry a good portion of the day if not all of the daytime hours. However, clouds will increase. I expect highs on Sunday afternoon around 42. Sunday night is when things get iffy. A storm system is expected to scoot up through the Appalachians. Timing and temperature differences are still there. However…I expect some wintry precipitation on Sunday night with lows around that critical freezing point or just below it. Now, I should point out…if anything accumulates, 1) it will not be a crazy high amount and 2) because of that, it will probably melt off on Monday afternoon. By Monday afternoon I do think we will change it all over to rain. Highs on Monday will end up around 40 if we’re lucky.

CHRISTMAS DAY: The holiday itself looks good and dry. While I’m pretty sure it WON’T be a White Christmas (unless the Sunday/Monday storm does something I’m not expecting), I do think it’ll be a sunny one with highs near 43.

WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY: Oh boy. A major storm looks to set up and swing to our south. Stay tuned…right now, this looks like it could be a SIGNIFICANT snowstorm. And this time, assuming it materializes (there’s a couple days between now and then) it’d probably all stick to roads. Highs will be in the lower or middle 30’s with lows in the middle 20’s.

TODAY’S TRAVEL FORECAST: If you’re leaving Cincinnati, watch out if heading to the northeast…lake enhanced snows will continue in portions of NY, PA, Northeast Ohio, Michigan and up into Canada. The western third of the country looks to be a big mess, with valley rain and mountain snows. Also, I note a rainfall chance down in the Mississippi Delta region.

NEXT UPDATE: The next update will be tonight. We are going with two updates today, and I had planned for only one on Sunday because of a gathering with my fiancee’s family…but now I’m not so sure. I’ll keep you updated on the possibility of a late day post Sunday. At the very least, I’ll post about any advisories that may be needed. Until then, take care!
