Monday 1/7 Forecast: A Brief January Thaw Commences!

TODAY: Skies will clear out for your back-to-work Monday. I expect highs around 40 with lows tonight down to 23.

TUESDAY: Second verse, same as the first. Partly cloudy skies and a high around 42.

WEDNESDAY: We continue to warm up with highs around 46 and lows around 28.

THURSDAY: Another chance of rain looks to occur getting into Thursday, and the latest guidance still suggests some pretty soaking rains with a high around 50 after a low of 31. Looks much like a January Thaw to me!

FRIDAY INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK: It looks like we’re dry and sunny on Friday with highs still in the 50’s, and then we will be closing in on 60(!) Saturday. Lows in this period may be as high as the lower 40’s. Another front crashes in this weekend with a chance of rain, and that will take temperatures down a good 15 to 20 degrees. However, there are differences in the timing between each model. For now, I lean toward Saturday being dry and then bringing in the chance of rain Sunday. I reserve the right to change this once the guidance comes to better agreement.

LONG RANGE: Models still have the thaw ending mid- to late month, with plenty of snow left to fall. So, if you liked what you got at the end of December, you’ll probably like the end of January. Of course, this is still a ways out and is subject to change.
