Thursday 10/18 Morning Discussion: Drying Out Later, But Colder

We’re wet this morning, but should dry out by afternoon. Welcome to your Thursday morning forecast for October 18, 2012.

THIS MORNING: We note that showers and maybe an isolated rumble of thunder are moving across much of the area this morning. As of 5:48 AM lighter shower activity extends from the Dayton area down into our eastern counties, while some heavier rain is present west of us. Through 10 AM, that heavier rain will pivot through areas mainly from the river northward, but I’m thinking as it gets near here, it may weaken somewhat as I’m not impressed with the temperature/dewpoint spreads here.

THIS AFTERNOON-FRIDAY: This afternoon and tonight, we should catch a break in the action. It’s beginning to look like the effect of the upper low that is behind the front will be limited to locations north of the Ohio River, and primarily from I-70 northward, but I sure can’t guarantee our northern counties won’t get a little rain Friday. Highs will be around 60 today (we’re already at 56 at this point) and 54 on Friday. Lows tonight will be in the 40-45 degree range.

SATURDAY: The low is out of here, and the models continue to depict a dry day…so I’ll roll with them and dry this forecast. We’ll be partly cloudy by afternoon for sure, and highs will only reach 60. Lows will be near 40 Saturday night. If you’re heading downtown for the Cincinnati Half-Marathon, the running forecast still looks great in the morning. The start time is 8:06 AM, and right now it looks like we’ll be around 42 to start, and near 50 by the noon hour when the race wraps up.

SUNDAY-WEDNESDAY: We will stay partly cloudy in this time period. I only see 65 Sunday. I think other forecasts are a few degrees too high. Monday looks more likely to hit the 70 degree mark, and then Tuesday and Wednesday we may be in the middle 70’s again. Lows will be around 47 Sunday night, and into the lower 50’s Monday and Tuesday nights.
